Growing up a tomboy, Lauren felt more at home playing football with the boys than traipsing on her tippy toes with the girls in dance class. So at the age of 7, she ditched her tutu and ballet slippers and started playing organized sports including soccer, softball, and basketball.
But ball games aside, her true passion revealed itself in swimming. For the following 11 years, she swam competitively for United States Swimming in Rochester, N.Y. Given that competitive swimming is a year-round sport, Lauren didn’t stop one stroke for the freezing temperatures and snowstorms of upstate New York (though she may have benefited from one or two heated pools along the way and lots of teeth gritting).
Her discipline and dedication to sports that she harbored in her youth carried over naturally into the gym after her swimming career ended, when she started working out regularly to stay in shape. Trained to go the extra mile with all her endeavors, her simple goals to stay active and healthy gradually developed into a passion beyond that of your average gym-go-er. After nearly 10 years in various marketing jobs, she decided to transform this passion into a career change and obtained her personal training certification through AFPA (American Fitness Professionals and Associates). Lauren looks forward to embarking on this new career using her life-long sport experiences to help others reach their fitness goals.
